Give your settlements meals and equipment they can receive
Food and equipment solve different settlement needs in County of Fortune. Recipes can improve building efficiency, while equipment opens building space and, at level 2, increases maximum worker capacity. The useful starting point is a recipe or equipment chain that your connected region can actually supply.
The official County of Fortune demo FAQ establishes those effects. The food examples below come from Nivarias's narrated demo playthrough and are labeled as player experience rather than a complete recipe database.
Early food examples from a narrated demo
In Nivarias's County of Fortune demo playthrough, the player selects meals that use the crops being produced in the region. These examples show the relationship between a local crop and a settlement recipe:
| Food supply discussed in the playthrough | Meal or recipe selected |
|---|---|
| Cabbage | Cabbage soup |
| Oats | Oat porridge |
| Beans | Mashed beans |
| Lentils | Sour lentils |
| Turnips | Boiled turnips |
These are ingredient-to-meal examples, not measured ingredient ratios. The playthrough also shows why selecting a food that the region does not yet supply is different from establishing a working food chain.
Choose recipes that fit the goods you can produce or deliver. For a settlement that does not grow the crop itself, the supplying settlement and road connection become part of the meal's supply chain.
Make wooden chests and wool tunics
The official FAQ names two early Peasant equipment options: wooden chests from a Wooden Chest Workshop, or wool tunics from a Wool Tunic Workshop. Supplying one of those equipment needs unlocks the second building slot.
The same narrated demo provides these practical production examples:
- A logging settlement supplies logs to a Wooden Chest Workshop, which produces wooden chests.
- A sheep farm supplies wool to a Wool Tunic Workshop, which produces wool tunics.
In the playthrough, a chest delivery unlocks room for another building, including an example where a wool tunic workshop is added to an existing settlement. That is player experience illustrating the official equipment rule, not a requirement to copy the player's settlement names or build order.
Select the need and keep the delivery connected
Producing an item somewhere in the region is only part of the process. Connect the middle market squares of the settlements by road, then set the destination to accept the food recipe or equipment. The FAQ says vendors begin distributing automatically when there is enough product to move.
If a workshop is waiting for an input, inspect its warning icon and production-chain tooltip. If a settlement is waiting for a meal or equipment delivery, check the connection, the selected need and the source stock.
For leveling, the official requirement is to fulfill all consumption needs in both the food and equipment categories for that settlement. One delivered chest does not by itself fulfill every requirement for an upgrade.
FAQ
Is this every food and equipment recipe in the game?
No. These are useful early demo examples supported by the obtained playthrough and official FAQ, not an exhaustive product or ingredient-ratio table.
What should I make first for another building slot?
The FAQ gives wooden chests or wool tunics as the Peasant equipment options that unlock the second slot. Choose a chain you can supply in your region.
Why does a selected recipe still have no delivery?
Check that the supplying settlement is connected, the required product is available and enough stock exists for vendors to move it. Selecting a need does not create its ingredients.
