Start With the Road and Receiving Need
When goods are not reaching a settlement, first check its road connection and whether it is set to accept the relevant food recipe or equipment. Within a region, vendors need roads between the central market squares and enough stock to make a delivery. A nearby producer alone does not guarantee that the receiving need has been fulfilled.
The official County of Fortune demo FAQ specifically recommends checking whether the road is connected when products fail to arrive. These are supported supply checks, rather than a universal fix for every possible game bug.
Confirm the Connection Reaches the Market Squares
Activate Build a road, or V, and inspect the central market squares. They highlight yellow with the road tool active. Connect those squares, rather than relying on a road that merely passes beside the settlement.
A red road segment cannot be built. For a crossing over water, use the bridge tool before completing the connection. Use Shift where a diagonal road section helps create the valid route.
Check Production and Allow a Viable Shipment
Once roads are connected, confirm that the receiving settlement accepts the product through its recipe or equipment selection. Then check that the source actually has enough goods available.
The FAQ warns that deliveries may not begin instantly because there must be enough product to transport. Repeatedly changing the route before a shipment is possible can make diagnosis harder.
Look at missing-input warnings on production buildings. The October developer updates explain that production figures on a building card represent maximum possible production and consumption, not proof of current output. Follow the chain back to the missing input instead of assuming the listed maximum is already being produced.
Apply the Correct Interregional Transport Rule
If goods must cross a region boundary, check the trade endpoints and configured route as well. Land trade uses suitable markets and a road connection. River trade uses raft ports and a compatible flow direction.
In the demo, stone, logs, clay, and sand are heavy freight that requires river transport between regions. Rafts travel downstream only. A source on the wrong branch or downstream of the destination cannot simply send that heavy load upstream by raft.
For lighter land freight, a receiving raft port can accept goods from a region with a small market. Keep that special receiving arrangement separate from the rule for heavy materials.
FAQ
Why does food exist in my region but not reach a village?
Check its assigned recipe, the market-square road connection, source stock, and whether enough goods are ready for delivery.
Does the production number on a building card prove goods are being made?
No. The developer updates explain that those figures show potential production and consumption. Missing inputs can still stop production.
Can auto-trade fix an empty source stockpile?
Auto-trade adjusts traded amounts to demand; it does not create missing products. Repair the input or production issue as well.
Should stone arrive through a road trade route?
Not between regions in the demo. Use a valid downstream river route with the appropriate raft-port endpoints.
