Upgrade a Fully Supplied Settlement to Level 2
Commoner content becomes available when you level up a settlement to level 2. First fulfill its consumption needs in both food and equipment, then click Level Up beside the mayor portrait. The October demo includes Commoners and stops settlement progression at this level.
The official County of Fortune demo FAQ explains both the upgrade requirement and the interface step that reveals the higher-level buildings. If you only look at the earlier building tab, you can miss the new options after upgrading.
Open the Green Commoners Tab
After the settlement has leveled up:
- Open its Buildings tab.
- Select the green person icon labeled Commoners.
- Click the plus sign in an available slot.
- Choose the higher-level building you want to construct.
The official FAQ names raft ports, taverns, and the small market as examples of the buildings accessed this way. Their presence depends on opening the correct social-class view, rather than searching only among the original starting-building choices.
Supply Commoner Needs and New Production
The Needs tab also contains a green Commoners icon. Use it to inspect that class's requirements instead of assuming the Peasant needs list is the whole settlement economy.
At level 2, more equipment can increase the maximum workers in buildings. Additional food recipes improve efficiency. Continue checking actual supply, since a selected need still requires enough product and a functioning delivery connection.
Small markets and raft ports become especially useful as regions specialize. Markets enable compatible land trade, while raft ports support the demo's downstream river transport. Heavy interregional goods such as stone require the river route.
Recognize the Demo's Progression Limit
Unlocking Commoners does not mean every announced social class is available. The official FAQ describes Artisans and Patricians as additions in Early Access, along with settlement progression up to level 4.
As of November 1, that release is planned for November 5. The current demo's level-2 limit is therefore a content boundary, rather than evidence that a hidden Artisans or Patricians upgrade has failed.
Before starting another region to solve a supply problem, check what your existing Commoner settlements can produce and what can be traded. Expanding the county is useful when it fills a resource or production need; it also creates more infrastructure to support.
