Add production space, then supply it
To produce more goods in County of Fortune, create more settlements or add buildings to the settlements you already have. Extra buildings require available slots, which you can unlock by meeting equipment needs. Supplying their inputs and improving efficiency is what turns that added space into useful output.
Those options come directly from the official County of Fortune demo FAQ. You do not need to treat every shortage as a reason to found another village.
Choose between a new settlement and an extra building
A new settlement lets you develop another suitable resource location. Use the settlement-placement resource areas to check that the starting building fits the land you select.
An extra building can expand production inside an existing settlement. For Peasants, supplying wooden chests or wool tunics unlocks a second building slot. The official FAQ identifies the Wooden Chest Workshop and Wool Tunic Workshop as the producers of those equipment goods.
If you have reached your settlement limit, this equipment route is particularly useful: an existing settlement may still have room to grow its production through another slot. Check its equipment supply before assuming the county has no way to add a building.
Improve the buildings you already have
More food recipes can increase building efficiency. After a settlement reaches level 2, providing more equipment can also increase the maximum number of workers in its buildings.
These are related but separate improvements. A higher worker limit is not the same thing as a new building slot, and food-driven efficiency is not a new source of raw materials. Look at which of those limits is actually restricting the building you want to expand.
Mayor selection is another relevant check. The developer recommends matching the mayor's bonus to the settlement's starting building where possible. In the October demo, negative mayor bonuses and the penalty for moving mayors between settlements have been removed, making it easier to compare a new hire with an existing mayor who fits better.
Fix missing inputs and delivery problems
A workshop cannot reach its potential output without its ingredients. Updated production buildings show an input-warning icon, while production-chain tooltips show how the goods connect.
Do not read a building card's production figure as a guarantee that it is currently producing that amount. The developer explains that these numbers represent maximum possible production and consumption, even when an input shortage stops the building.
For regional deliveries, connect settlement market squares by road and select the receiving food recipe or equipment. Vendors need enough goods to make a delivery. For a cross-region shortage, check the actual trade route and its transport method as well; the demo's heavy goods cannot simply be sent between regions by road.
FAQ
What are the two main ways to produce additional goods?
Found more settlements or construct additional buildings in existing ones. Equipment supplies help unlock the slots needed for the second option.
Does supplying equipment only unlock building slots?
No. The official FAQ says that after upgrading a settlement to level 2, additional equipment also increases maximum worker capacity in its buildings.
Should I build another workshop when one is idle?
Check its input warning and supply chain first. A second workshop does not replace the raw product that the first workshop is missing.
